Published Online: 6/1/2020

Crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus Dana reared for two years in troughs was further observed from June 1981 till May 1983. Four stages of rearing in this period differed considerably as to the conditions. However, the data obtained add to the knowledge of the biology of this species. Estimates were made of crayfish survival, growth rate and its patterns. Also, sporadic direct observations on the feeding behaviour, moulting and reproduction were carried out. After 40 months of rearing the crayfish attained 7.2-11.9 cm in males (mean 9.2 cm), and 7.0-11.0 cm in females (mean 9.0 cm). Survival during almost four years (till May 1983) was 1.2%. Undoubtedly, varying rearing conditions affected survival and growth rate of the crayfish.
