Abstract

The conservation status of Australian freshwater crayfish is reviewed by documenting species, and the habitats in which they are found, as threatened, and noting the processes which threaten them. Thirty three species, more than one quarter of the Australian freshwater crayfish fauna, are regarded as worthy of concern from a conservation viewpoint. Of these, fourteen are formally recognised (or due for recognition) as threatened by the relevant State authorities.
