Studies on the pathology of crayfish under rearing conditions

Abstract
In crayfish farms the eggs of females can be destroyed by fungi, especially by Saprolegniales. An epizootic infection of the eggs of Pacifastacus leniusculus caused by Dictyuchus sp. has been studied. It has been recently discovered that also another phycomycete attacks the gills of P. leniusculus and leads to death of the crayfish. Also, pathological effects on Astacus leptodactylus caused by abundantly occurring solid particles suspended in water are described.
